Stay Tuned!

The new counter tops are in!  Well, they're in the basement awaiting their new home.  First, we'll be staining the cabinets.  That is this morning's lesson that we'll be covering with the children.  :)  Then this afternoon the children and I will be emptying all the bottom cabinets, wiping them out and preparing everything in the basement kitchen to cook down there for the next couple of days.

Don't worry!  I'll post pictures of the entire process for all to see.  Because it will be fun.  It won't happen all in one day, of course, but rest assured it will happen.  :)

For a sneak peak...here are the old counter tops:

We've bleached and bleached this counter top for over 6 years and this time, the pink stuff just refuses to give in to the bleach.

The new counter top sitting on the basement counter.  It took 3 weeks to make this counter top.  I am so glad it is here now!  :)  Rest assured, this is one step in a series of steps that we're going to do for the kitchen.  Next Spring we will be replacing the upper cabinets and installing an exhaust fan where there wasn't one before!  Yippee!  We'll also be ordering more counter top for either an island or a different type of peninsula.  We're not 100% sure right now which it will be at this point.  But, the "cast off" counter top my husband bought to help us with counter space sure has been a wonderful, surprisingly, addition to the kitchen.  :)  The prep space and all the different nooks and crannies it created surprised me.

In transition...yes, those are Granola Bars on the left by the refrigerator!  ;)  I'll post the recipe later.  Clean dishes on the counter and in the dishwasher waiting for assigned child to step back in to the photo area to put them away. Yippee!  And, Biscuit's "Froggie" on the floor where he left it.  Too bad he doesn't have opposible thumbs!  LOL

Yes, you could call this "Before".

This morning we stained all the new cupboards that will be installed in the kitchen tomorrow.  The children and I have emptied the cupboards and will get the counters completely emptied after dinner tonight.  The table [behind me in this picture] has had all of the leaves taken out to shrink to "as small as possible" to make room for the refrigerator moving toward it as well as the dishwasher while hubby and the boys lay down new flooring.  It's an exciting time here at our house!

Stay tuned for more!
