Getting Back on Track

After two  months of sickness, yesterday was the first day back at exercising.  It felt so good to get on my elliptical!  Fortunately, I can move it closer to a music source to listen to music or watch Netflix on the computer while I work out.  Watching a Netflix show gives me a good guideline to shoot for, but I'd rather listen to music.  I know I can listen to an MP3 player on it because it has those sorts of hook ups.  My youngest son, JL, usually graciously lets me borrow his, but he was busy doing school work and I didn't want to interrupt his concentration.

I feel like I'm starting over completely with exercising, unfortunately.  However, it's not too bad.  I was able to do 21 minutes on the elliptical which is better than when I truly began almost 2 years ago.  I could barely do 10 minutes then, so I've made some progress!  My legs hurt today and it was a busy day so I didn't exercise.  I want to ease my way back in to it, so I'll do more tomorrow.

Fortunately when I got sick my eating habits didn't revert back to pre-diet habits.  I had a hand full of chips here an there, but it wasn't anything like before.  I truly believe that had it not been for eating as healthfully as I have been that I would have been sicker a lot longer.

What's new in my diet?  Kale!  I've read so many good things about it, so I'm going to give it a try and see how things turn out.

God is so good!

I know what you mean about getting back to it. I use to go to the gym 5 days a week for 1-2 hours at a time. Then I got sick and then one thing after anther.

All excuses of course.

I love watching TV while I walk on the treadmill. Makes time go by so much faster. I would like to have a treadmill at the house. I would use it regularly since I wouldn't have to worry about a sitter for the baby and school work with the older children.

I hadn't watched TV much at all before. I had always listened to my son's MP3 player that helped with spiritual encouragement. Today I'd increased the resistance, but listened to the online radio instead. I like doing that too. It helps to keep my mind on other things rather than how much my muscles are burning. LOL

When I watch a comedy while on the treadmill I can walk for HOURS and not even bat an eye. Laughter helps you get through the burn. The LOVELY burn!!!!
