To our school year that is. Today was the day that I burned the last CD to make sure there was proof that we did indeed do all kinds of science this year. That topic was sorely lacking in JL's portfolio. How does one document all the many GA-Zillions of discussions that we have through the day? It simply isn't possible. So, as I sit here with both feet propped up--one swollen from the humidity (wierd, I know)--I simply wonder if the Superintendent is going to call and say, "I need more Science in this kid's porfolio!" Hmmmmm.
But, then again, I do this to myself every year.
Soooo, what do I do now? Well, after getting the call that the portfolios have been "accepted" (they have no choice but to accept them since we've followed everything to the letter), I hustle to the notary, get the affidavit notarized and zip it off to the school district via certified-return receipt requested mail, so that we can start counting as many days as we can IMMEDIATELY. LOL I know, I'm a goof ball, but it has been done in years past.
Although, this year will be just a smidge different, now that I think about it. We'll start again on July 16th instead of the 1st. Why? Well, I have T.O.N.S. of typing out questions for them to answer to begin our new school year. This coming year is going to be very weighty for me. I'll have my oldest in Biology 2 (aka Anatomy and Physiology), World Geography, Civics--using the God and Government series--, English 1 & starting English 2 by February, as well as pushing hard through a year and a half of math. My daughter will be in Biology 1 in addition to all of her SOS school work. My youngest son will finish up Zoology 2 & 3 in addition to working very diligently at moving forward in his studies.
To begin, however, we'll be going through the writing/research/outlining/note taking process. Needless to say, things are going to be very much like a whirlwind this year. Why? All of this so that my oldest will only have 4 credits to take during his Senior year of high school. Those will consist of English, Math, Science and History. If he wants to do something in addition to those things, then that's great.
As I type this, I have the God and Government volume 1 book sitting next to me. I've just finished typing the questions for chapter 2. I am taking a break from typing for educational purposes for now. My brain needs a breather.
For now, though, I apologize for not having pictures to share. We've been rather busy getting portfolios taken care of and evaluations done.
