Music

Psalms 28:7 "The Lord is my strength, and my shield, my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly reioyceth, and with my song will I praise him." (KJV-1611)

Teaching JL to play the clarinet.

JL giving it a try.

DA giving it a try.

Do you see the music in these pictures?

Eating tomatoes from the garden as a snack.

Music feeds the soul with sweet blessings that transcend time and space.  Music resonates within our mind when we are in places where we cannot listen to it.  Situations arise and a song comes to mind.  Words are said and we're reminded of that phrase in a song.  Memories of beautiful times of sharing a gift with others in song bring a sense of fulfillment.  Other memories of being alone with the Father ring in my mind, high in the mountains in the shadow of an old wooden cross, playing flute and clarinet in the wee early morning hours in praises to the Lord of all creation.

When life gets out of control, other people force their own will or agenda on me, children get unruly, the pressures of life feel like a compression chamber, the indescribable grief of losing a child--whether unborn or not, it is music that speaks peace to my soul.

Praise God for music!

Wow...you play the clarinet, too? Is there anything in this world that you cannot do? You simply amaze me, Regina. I keep finding out new things about you all the time...you are BLESSED!

Yes, I've played clarinet for 32 years. It seems that 32 years ago was the time in my life where I picked everything up all at one time. I've sung in a variety of choirs since then too. I don't let my deafness in one ear limit myself.

I remember singing with all the 6th graders in Rapid City, South Dakota in the Civic Center. It was HUGE! We sang "Dona Nobis Pacem" and I will never forget the indelible mark that moment made in my life. Every time I sing or play clarinet or flute or pass those gifts on to other younger people to praise God, I get such peace and settling, knowing that I am right in the middle of God's will...right where He wants me to be.

And, there are lots of things I don't know how to do, like welding, how to fly an airplane, how to understand JAVA script, how to do brain surgery, and I could NEVER be a light replacer on a high tower or on a suspension bridge (I get sick at certain heights--the Fire Tower here in Cook's Forest is pushing it for me). I don't know how to fix a car, but I do know how to change a tire. I don't know how to fix any number of appliances, but my husband does. I can fill them with all kinds of goodies, but not fix any of them. LOL

I'd like to encourage you, though, that if there is something you'd like to learn, just gather information on it and start reading. If you can't do that because of your learning style, you need to see it done, seek someone to learn from. If there is something you want to learn how to do, don't let anyone stop you.

Learning never, ever, ever ends. And we don't have to go to college to be educated. Most of what I've learned has been outside of college being a wife and mother. ;)

Blessings to You Dear Friend,
Regina
